The army post was established in the year 1917 and was closed in the year 1994. This army base is considered to be one of the most beautiful places in California. The base is on Monterey Bay and has beautiful weather most of the time. After the base was closed in the year 1994; since then the area is being used by the civilians. The proclamation for the decision was signed by Barack Obama on 12th April 2012. This fort has a lot of historical importance.
