Sharp neon signs and outdoor ads to be switched off – star.com.my
Mar 30AS part of the Sharp 100th anniversary celebration, Sharp-Roxy Sales & Service Company (M) Sdn Bhd is participating in the Earth Hour 2012 tonight.
The participation is to create Sharp awareness as the innovator of one-of-a-kind and green technology products that are also part of the brand philosophy that cares for the environment.
Sharp is implementing various activities in conjunction with the global event in Malaysia.
Sharp neon signs at Wisma Bandar and Malaysian Rubber Board (Lembaga Getah Negara) building will be turned off from 8.30pm to 9.30pm local time.
The shutdown of both neon signs represents Sharp’s support for the campaign. Both neon signs are located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, with Wisma Bandar located near Dataran Merdeka while the Malaysian Rubber Board building is next to the Petronas Twin Towers.
Other Sharp outdoor advertisements throughout the nation will be turned off during the same period.
All Sharp staffs will be given specially made Earth Hour candles for their usage during the lights-off period at their respective residences.
The company’s support for the event also applies to posters placed at Sharp offices and the web banner in Sharp’s website to alert web visitors.
Sharp will also run the Earth Hour 2012 video playback provided by WWF into various Sharp-related areas such as the Sharp showroom and dealers outlets.
With regard to the 100th anniversary, Sharp will be celebrating its centennial anniversary on Sept 15. The brand was established in 1912.
