Concerns arise over Cole signs marring city skyline – Republic
Mar 08COLUMBUS — Mayor Kristen Brown is hoping to block a developer’s request to attach 25-foot-tall, 3-foot-wide lighted signs to a new downtown apartment complex.
Developer Buckingham Cos. has asked the city to waive the rules for the number, positioning and total square footage of signs at the Cole apartments, now under construction surrounding the Second Street parking garage in downtown Columbus.
Brown contends that the sign, one of three proposed for different corners of the Cole, would mar motorists’ view of the Bartholomew County Courthouse as they cross the Second Street Bridge.
