Reader’s view: Business signs banning guns invite robberies – Duluth News Tribune

Feb 18

After seeing some recently posted signs on stores and gas stations saying, “No guns allowed,” or, “Guns banned here,” it occurred to me the signs might as well read, “Come in and rob me; no one will stop you,” or, “No guns allowed except mine” — if you have one.

Of course, if our president and secretary of state have their way with the U.S. Small Arms Treaty, it could lead to no guns at all for law-abiding citizens. I can envision a scenario in which only a single world government and criminals of the world would have guns.

We can push back against this by telling our representatives and senators to refuse to ratify this treaty in spite of the efforts of President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who support it.

Another way to reduce what I see as a threat to our nation is to urge Congress to pass the American Sovereignty Restoration Act. It was introduced in February 2009 and referred to the Committee on Foreign Affairs. There it was buried to prevent action on it.

This administration seems determined to give up our sovereignty to the one-world-government agenda of the United Nations, and we must prevent it by informing our congressmen and women of our thoughts on this and vote freedom first.
